Javanese
A Balinese in the point colours the Balinese standard leaves out. Long coated, fine boned, and as talkative as anything else in the Siamese family.

Overview
The Javanese is a Balinese in the extra point colours, which makes it a longhaired Siamese in colours the Siamese standard does not admit. It has no connection to Java, and the name follows the Balinese's naming convention rather than any geography.
Registries disagree about whether it is a breed, a Balinese division or a Colorpoint Longhair. The cat underneath is the same in every case.
Temperament
Siamese in full, with the volume to match. Javanese are vocal, opinionated, intensely attached and very intelligent.
They want to be involved in everything, they follow their people from room to room, and they will tell you about their day. They are among the most trainable cats and they need mental work to stay out of trouble.
Care and grooming
Much easier than the coat length suggests. There is no undercoat, so it lies flat and rarely mats, and a comb through twice a week is enough.
The oriental breeds share a set of concerns worth asking about: progressive retinal atrophy in the rdAc form, which is testable, amyloidosis in some lines, and a strong tendency to dental disease.
Living and exercise
Company is a requirement rather than a preference. A Javanese alone all day is an unhappy cat, and two is often kinder than one.
They climb everything and use every shelf. Ten to fifteen years is usual, and they stay active almost to the end of it.
